Political leader held over killing of traffic cop

Police on Saturday arrested a local leader of a Pashtun political party over the killing of a traffic police official in a road accident in the North Nazimabad area.
A traffic police sub-inspector, Muhammad Hafeez, was seriously wounded on Friday when a Daihatsu Hijet hit him while he was performing his duty as per routine near the Abdullah College in North Nazimabad. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Following the accident, police conducted a raid in the Pahar Ganj area near Kati Pahari and arrested the owner of the vehicle, Niaz Hussain, who is said to be a local leader of a Pashtun-based political party.
Dumper runs over Karachi traffic cop

KARACHI: A dumper driver ran over a sub-inspector of the traffic police in the metropolis North Nazimabad area after the officer reportedly asked him to stop for violating traffic rules.
The dumper driver was stopped near Abdullah College, but he refused to park to the side, instead running the vehicle over Sub-Inspector Muhammad Hafeez, the traffic police said.
Following the incident, Hafeez was rushed to a private hospital, situated on Stadium Road. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have registered a case against the suspect on the complaint of a fellow police officer at North Nazimabad Police Station and have started searching for the person responsible.
