LAHORE: The NAB has filed a reference against former Punjab minister for mines & minerals Muhammad Sibtain Khan along with eight other accused allegedly involved in illegally granting of a multi-billion contract to M/s Earth Resource (Pvt) Ltd (ERPL) with alleged abetment and connivance of Management of Punjab Mineral Development Corporation (PUNJMIN) regarding leasing rights of iron ore deposits located at Rajoa and Chiniot areas.
As per the reference details, NAB Lahoreâs Combined Investigation Team (CIT) had launched a probe over an alleged lopsided agreement after being referred from the Lahore High Court that a mining agreement between M/s ERPL and PUNJMINâs management for mining of huge iron ore deposits comprising 500 metric tons located in Rajoa and Chiniot areas of Punjab.
AC (Saddar) takes charge
Rawalpindi : New Assistant Commissioner (Saddar) Muhammad Shahid took charge on Saturday.
AC Muhammad Shahid Khokar has been performing his services in Bahawalpur before being transferred to Rawalpindi. Soon after taking charge he convened the meeting of gardawars led by Tehsildar Malik Javed, who briefed AC about matters relating to land in different mauzas of Rawalpindi.
The staff welcomed new AC ( Saddar) and congratulated him on taking charge of the office. AC directs them to work devotedly and solve problems of people related to land issues.
People, who were visiting AC office, also hope that new AC would solve their land related issues and would decide their cases as early as possible.
LAHORE: The Lahore Tax Bar Association secretary has asked the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC) to hold verification of the educational credentials of the bar president.
In a letter written to the chairman of the executive committee of the provincial council, LTBA Secretary Rana Kashif Walayat alleged that Ali Ahsan Rana,
who has recently been elected as president of the tax bar, procured his legal practice licence on the basis of a “fake degree” of LLB.
The secretary alleged that Mr Rana never did his matriculation, intermediate and graduation, while the degrees possessed by him did not belong to him in fact.
Cops arrest ‘terrorist of a banned outfit’

KARACHI:
The Steel Town police claimed on Sunday to have arrested a terrorist associated with a banned terrorist outfit, who has been involved in the targeted killings of cops, extortion, terrorism, and other crimes. The police claimed to have found a pistol and a hand grenade in his possession.
The arrested suspect, identified as Muqeem Alias Shah, is the brother of a slain terrorist, Sheikh Mumtaz alias Firoun, according to police. Moreover, his two brothers, Sheikh Mohammad Moinuddin and Arbaz alias Aryan, were also arrested on November 21 along with an accomplice of theirs.
