Daily Times Muhammad Naeem says PAEC contributing around 12 percent electricity to national grid May 21, 2021 ISLAMABAD: International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi has said that nuclear generation plants are important for Pakistan to meet its rising energy needs. In a video message on the formally inauguration of the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant Unit-2 (K-2), he said that Pakistan’s longstanding collaboration with the international autonomous organization stretched back to 70s as the country pursued its nuclear programme under safety guidelines. Earlier, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) Chairman Yu Jian Feng said that technology transfer and the nuclear cooperation between Pakistan and China would further achieve new heights. He said that the nuclear facilities were being run under strict safety compliance.

Civil servants should submit social media accounts details | Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF)

April 29, 2021 LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Wednesday took exception to use of social media by the civil servants and hinted at passing an appropriate order in this regard. The chief justice observed that the civil servants should submit details of their cellular numbers and social media accounts to the relevant departments. He remarked that the departments should decide a code for the civil servants to use social media. CJ Khan was hearing a petition against holding of protest/strike by the public functionaries and running a campaign against the judiciary on social media in the wake of the arrest of an assistant commissioner ordered by a civil judge in Sahiwal.

PAEC develops first ICU ventilator Islamabad April 29, 2021 Islamabad : Taking a leap towards self-reliance in designing and manufacturing of life-saving equipment, the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Wednesday announced having indigenously developed its own Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ventilator named ‘i-LIVE.’ The ventilator has been developed by a PAEC team of scientists and engineers, applying all essential quality standards and regulatory requirements, with doctors from PAEC Hospital, Islamabad, providing valuable input during its development process. The spokesperson of PAEC Shahid Riaz Khan told the media that the ventilator has been awarded formal approval, licensing and registration by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP). After this award of approval from DRAP, ‘i-LIVE’ will be manufactured and supplied by PAEC to meet the critical needs of hospitals.
