The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday announced an 84-hour lockdown in 11 districts in a bid to tackle the surge in Covid-19 cases. The curfew will come into effect at 7 pm on April 29 and will remain in force till 7 am on May 3.
Taking to Twitter, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad wrote,” There will be Complete Lockdown in Srinagar District from 7 pm on Thursday to Monday 7am.”

JAMMU: An 84-hour lockdown will be imposed in 11 districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening in a bid to tackle the surge in COVID-19 cases, a senior official said. The union territory had on Tuesday recorded its highest single-day spike of 3,164 COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 1,66,054, while 25 fatalities over the last 24 hours took the toll to 2,197.
The curfew will come into effect at 7 pm on Thursday and remain in force till 7 am on Monday, Secretary of the Disaster Management Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Department Simrandeep Singh said on Wednesday.
SRINAGAR: In view of the unprecedented rise of Covid-19 cases in Jammu & Kashmir, district administration Srinagar has decided to impose a complete lockdown from Thursday 7pm (29th April) to Monday 7am (3rd May) in the district.

As many as 12,000 personnel deployed, more vehicle checkpoints set up across city
With the complete lockdown back after a gap of seven months, the police have made elaborate arrangements by deploying 12,000 police personnel and setting up more vehicle checkpoints across the city.
The lockdown was implemented first on March 24 last year to contain the spread of COVID-19. The complete lockdown was implemented for nine Sundays until September, though restrictions were relaxed on other days and in other parts of the State.

Maharashtra relief and rehabilitation minister Vijay Wadettiwar on Monday said the government is looking at a complete lockdown in the state. The government has scheduled a cabinet meet on Tuesday and, according to people aware of the development, a decision on enforcing a complete lockdown in the state could be taken at this meeting.
“We have as of yet not gone for a full lockdown, we have just put a curfew,” Wadettiwar said. “Now (with cases rising), everyone from traders and common people to political parties are asking us to impose a full lockdown. We have conveyed this to the chief minister, and we are expecting that a decision on the lockdown would be taken in the next two days.”
