The Betfred Women’s Super League will return in April after an absence of more than 18 months – with 10 teams launching the quest to reach the Grand Final on Sunday October 10.
Almost the entire Women’s Rugby League 2020 season was lost to the Covid-19 pandemic, interrupting the momentum that had been building steadily since the Women’s Super League launched as a four-team competition in 2017.
But with England Women desperate to make up for lost time as they prepare for one of the three Rugby League World Cups that will be staged in England this autumn, the BWSL squads were finally cleared to return to training last weekend.

St Helens Mad Runners LOCKDOWN couldn t stop more than 800 runners pounding the pavement this weekend to take part in the 11th annual St Helens 10k - the first to be held virtually. The coronavirus pandemic meant organisers of the GPW Recruitment St Helens 10k had to switch from a traditional race to a virtual one , with participants given the choice of running their own course on Saturday, March 6 or Sunday, March 7. An app from TDL Event Services tracked the individual runner s progress and provided them with information about their time, which was sent back to organisers.

From hordes of screaming fans to seemingly endless requests for autographs and photos, England women’s rugby league captain Emily Rudge has had first-hand experience of the adulation her sport can offer.
Unfortunately for Rudge, her brief taste of rock-star treatment occurred almost 10,000 miles away in Papua New Guinea, during her team’s three-match Test tour to the rugby league-mad nation at the end of 2019.
SAINTS supporters will be able to park for free on the majority of town centre car parks when fans return to the stadium, the council has announced. Council chiefs in St Helens have been in consultation with club officials to find new parking options due to the demolition of Chalon Way car park. The car park, which had been a match day parking facility for fans, is currently being torn down as part of regeneration plans. This week the local authority said the fans will be able to use all open-air car parks across the town centre for free once the easing of restrictions finally allow them back into the stadium.

Thousands of vulnerable people in Merseyside could have Covid-19 vaccinations delayed due to an apparent misunderstanding with supplies.
About 3,000 people aged 16-65 in at-risk groups in St Helens could see their jab dates moved if supply issues are not resolved by Thursday lunchtime.
The town s mass vaccination centre serves four primary care networks but the national supply scheme is counting them as one single entity.
This has left the centre low on stocks.
Priority group seven - those aged over 60 - are now being called in for their vaccinations but many in group six - aged 16-65 in at-risk groups - are still waiting to be vaccinated.
