Australian eco-universities top the class in world rankings Education by Natasha Bita Premium Content Subscriber only Clean and green Australian universities lead the world in environmental research and campaigns, a new global report card reveals. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for 2021, released in London, list four Australian unis in the top 10 out of 1240 universities rated worldwide in terms of work towards the United Nation s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Twenty-four Aussie universities are among the top 200 globally. The University of Sydney is the world s second-best university in terms of sustainability, behind the top-ranked University of Manchester. RMIT University came third, La Trobe University fourth, and the University of Wollongong equal sixth with Aalborg University in Denmark.

Penn State ranked fourth in the U.S. and 32nd in the world out of 1115 international institutions that participated in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings, released today (April 21), placing the University in the top 3% of universities worldwide.  The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking is a broad multidimensional assessment of a university’s research, community outreach and education and campus operations. The criteria used in the assessment are linked to the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), global goals adopted by all U.N. Member States that look to improve life for all people and protect the planet.

Uni among top 60 in world for positive impact on society The university has been placed 57 th out of 1,115 institutions worldwide in the newly published Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which recognise universities for their social and economic impact under the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This year’s rankings saw the university rise 16 places on last year’s position of 73 rd out of 766 institutions surveyed. Aberdeen is also 12 th in the UK rankings, rising from 16 th place last year. Areas in which the university has excelled include partnership for the goals and sustainable cities and communities where Aberdeen has been placed 27
