A one-sided game ended in another Murray State Racers win on Thursday, Jan. 28, when the Murray State women’s basketball team defeated the Tennessee State Tigers 77-58.
Before the game, the Racers honored junior guard Macey Turley with a commemorative basketball to celebrate reaching 1,000 points in her career. Turley is the 20th women’s basketball player to reach the milestone in Murray State history. Coming into the game, Turley’s total points sat at 1,075, ranking her 14th in Murray State women’s basketball history.
The Tigers scored the first two points of the game at the 8:30 mark, but the Racers’ defense didn’t allow them to score again until the 3:19 mark. In that time, Murray State went on a 10-0 run, including a three-pointer from junior guard Lex Mayes to start the run.
Froggy 103.7 FM The Murray State Racers ran down the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles Saturdays 72-63 at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky. The Racers (6-7) broke a two-game slip at home and improved to 3-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference. MSU continues a four-game home score with games against Tennessee State and Belmont (January 28-30). Tevin Brown scored 22 points on six baskets with three points in the season, while MSU got 15 points and nine rebounds from KJ Williams. Dionte Bostick threw nine assists to the MSU attack. Leading 33-26 at the half, the Racers quickly moved to a double-digit lead when Bostick scored on a TTU turn-over for a 37-26 lead with 18:13 over. Brown and Ja’Queze Kirby hit back-to-back threes to take their biggest lead of the game at 2:28 PM on free throws from Chico Carter, Jr. Tech came as close as eight points with 3:10 over, but Brown finished the game with his sixth 3-pointer of the game with 2:48 left. Colorado Buffaloes over No. 1 Stanford Cardinal (77-72 in OT) (Sunday)
The Buffaloes picked up their first-ever win over the No. 1 team in the nation. Stanford had been undefeated entering the contest and even after the loss they are No. 2 in the net rankings, while Colorado is No. 57. Mya Hollingshed scored 32 points for Colorado.

Racers suffer conference loss against SIUE

A lack of efficiency on the offensive end kept the Murray State Racers from earning their second OVC win of the season, falling to SIUE 64-57.
Murray State started the game off shooting 5-5 from the field, including a three pointer from junior guard Macey Turley at the 8:47 mark. The Racers struggled shooting after this however, finishing the quarter shooting just 6-19 from the field.
The Cougars had trouble shooting the ball as well, shooting 6-17 from the field in the quarter. The Racers outrebounded SIUE 14-11, including seven offensive rebounds. Murray State led at the end of the quarter 15-12.
