The Texas Department of Transportation will close the northbound Interstate 35 entrance ramp at Conrads Lane/Kohlenberg Road beginning Tuesday morning, officials said.
Itâs part of TxDOTâs $64 million expansion of I-35 between New Braunfels and San Marcos, which has already snarled traffic as improvements continue along Farm-to-Market Road 306 and the Creekside retail area.
Officials said with weather permitting, a new I-35 entrance ramp should open in early July. In the meantime, northbound I-35 traffic will continue on the northbound I-35 frontage road and take the northbound I-35 entrance ramp north of Watson Lane.
âThe proposed bridge work at this location consists of reversing the stack, allowing I-35 traffic flow over east and west Conrads Lane/Kohlenberg Road traffic,â said Carlos Arcila, TxDOTâs New Braunfelsâ assistant area engineer. âThis new configuration will improve safety and traffic flow at this intersection.â
Two people were killed Thursday night in a South Carolina crash following a pursuit by law enforcement that began in Cleveland County.
Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller said the chase began in Cleveland County, N.C,. when a trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol spotted the vehicle on N.C. 18 and attempted to stop the driver who had several outstanding warrants.
Mueller said the trooper crashed his vehicle during the pursuit. The Cherokee County Sheriff s Office was then notified and given a description of the suspect s vehicle. We picked it up two miles into South Carolina on Highway 18, Mueller said. The suspect then went down Blacksburg Highway to the Interstate and got on southbound at exit 100 and went five miles to exit 95 and made a right turn on Pleasant School Road when our deputies lost it.

Around 2:20 a.m., two men in their 20s were traveling eastbound on Hausman Road, between UTSA Boulevard and DeZavala Road, when the driver of the blue sedan lost control and crossed over Frontage Road. The car ended up crashing into the dividing barrier in the center of I-10. No other vehicles traveling on I-10 eastbound were hit by the oncoming car.
