Women in Aviation International (WAI) wrapped up its first virtual conference late last week, hosting more than 2,300 attendees from around the world, handing out 101 scholarships totaling $475,805, and staging an online exhibit hall featuring 105 separate organizations and companies. While set for March 11 and 12, the virtual sessions will remain online through March 31 and an extended scholarship program is accepting applications through May 18 for another 48 valued at $256,000. Women in Aviation Plans Virtual Conference for March 11-12

The 2021 event features education sessions, networking, and keynote speakers. The first virtual Women in Aviation Conference takes place in March to replace the event planned for Reno, Nevada, this spring. Women in Aviation International Last year brought a number of transitions to Women in Aviation International—namely the passing of the leadership baton from founder Dr. Peggy Chabrian to new CEO Allison McKay—but the last “normal” event that many folks in the aviation industry attended was the organization’s annual conference in Orlando, Florida, at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort. For 2021, WAI decided a couple of months ago that an in-person event wasn’t the right choice for its team and constituents, so it focused in on planning a virtual event.
