Novel Coronavirus In Nevada: Tuesday, May 4, 2021 6:00 p.m. | May 4, 2021 Nevada’s COVID-19 Vaccination Rate Still Declining The COVID-19 vaccination rate in Nevada is still slowing down. The state is vaccinating an average of fewer than 14,000 people per day, over the last two weeks. For comparison, Nevada was administering a 14-day rolling average of nearly 25,000 shots per day in mid-April. The state has administered more than 1.9 million shots. Nearly 46% of Nevadans over 16 have received their first shot and roughly a third have completed vaccination.  There are currently 388 Nevadans hospitalized for confirmed or suspected COVID-19.  The state’s test positivity rate has remained steady at 5.7% for about a week.

State restrictions on public gatherings prevent Ann Arbor Public Schools from having traditional, large indoor ceremonies, Superintendent Jeanice Swift said. But Pioneer, Huron and Skyline high schools will host two ceremonies with half the class in each outside so family members can attend and the district can remain in state compliance.

Carson City schools honor educators, employees of the year

Jillian Shufelt, Distance Education assistant at Pioneer High School was recognized as the Education Support . Tad Williams, Jr., fifth grade teacher at Fritsch Elementary School was named Carson City School .❮❯   When Brittany Witter student taught at Eagle Valley Middle School, she joked with an eighth grade teacher to save a spot for her return full-time to teach there. Now she’s happily serving Eagle Valley’s students as a social studies teacher, having been quoted in an interview for her Educator of the Year award that “education is lacking a lot of heart” and that teachers “need to love this job.”
