Former Vikings defensive end Stephen Weatherly was released by the Carolina Panthers on Friday. His exodus from the Panthers is the latest transaction amid a flurry of cap moves orchestrated by new Carolina general manager, Scott Fitterer.
The #Panthers are also releasing DE Stephen Weatherly and P Michael Palardy, per @JFowlerESPN. That will create an additional $8M in salary cap space.
Weatherly, 27, played in Carolina for just one season after departing the Vikings around this time last year. With the Panthers, he was on the field for about one-third of all defensive snaps. He tallied 17 total tackles and no sacks – a dubious mark for a defensive end.

Former Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen re-opened questions about the Vikings 2018 offseason quarterback search over the weekend, tweeting – then deleting and apologizing – a negative opinion about Kirk Cousins and suggesting Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer never wanted Cousins on the Vikings in the first place. Ask ZIMMER if he wanted Kirk?????, Griffen said in the second of three tweets, adding in his final tweet: He will tell you the truth??? Who wanted Kirk Cousins???? Take your guess???
Though Griffen never answer his own question, the obvious insinuation/guess is that it was Vikings GM Rick Spielman who ultimately got his way when the Vikings pursued and signed Cousins to a three-year, fully guaranteed $84 million deal (one that has subsequently been extended through 2022).

Good Morning!
Please note Admiral BigGun’s Fanpost raising money for Special Olympics is highlighted up here, I’ll keep it on the front page until ABG reaches his goal. I mentioned yesterday that I was likely in the first wave of providers in the state I live in (Floriduh) to be eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine and that I was probably not going to take it; please note that is consistent with my usual Daily Norseman sarcasm and I will literally shove the CEO, CFO and CMO out of the way to get the vaccine. I did research the science behind both available vaccines and am confident in both preventing Covid 19 and causing a side effect of hair growth.j/k on the hair growth thing. I probably won’t get a chance to go hunting this year so that 6 point is going to have to do for the year. Meanwhile we’ll carry on with our news and links open thread full of crockpot recipes, nap strategies and
