Former Penn State football safety Lamont Wade was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers shorty after the 2021 NFL Draft wrapped up Saturday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The athletic safety was a standout player for much of his career in Happy Valley. He totaled 153 tackles, including 6.5 hits for a loss, and left with a bang with his 100-yard kickoff return against Illinois.

The 6’6″ and 306-pound lineman has proved throughout his collegiate career he’s versatile player up and down the offensive line. In his 42 career starts at Penn State, Fries started 26 games at right tackle, nine at left tackle, six at right guard, and one at left guard.
In his final season with the Nittany Lions in 2020, Fries was named to the All-Big Ten second team and earned Penn State’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. In the same season, Fries and the rest of the group up front helped rank Penn State second in the Big Ten for total yards on offense.

STATE COLLEGE Former Penn State cornerback Zech McPhearson is headed back to Pennsylvania.
The Philadelphia Eagles drafted McPhearson out of Texas Tech with the No. 123 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft on Saturday.
After transferring to Texas Tech in 2019, McPhearson immediately stepped into the starting lineup for the Red Raiders. He started all 12 games and recorded 51 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups and two blocked kicks.
Former Penn State football star tight end Pat Freiermuth was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft on Friday night. He becomes the first tight end drafted from Penn State since Mike Gesicki was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2018.

The Merrimac, Massachusetts native owns the Penn State career touchdown receptions by a tight end record with 16, and sits at eighth all-time in touchdown grabs. He also set another Penn State record by finishing his career catching a pass in 29 straight games.

The big tight end will immediately step into a talented offense led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Freiermuth has the chance to form a dynamic duo with fellow tight end Eric Ebron, who had 56 catches and five touchdowns last season. Freiermuth is pumped at the prospect of playing alongside Ebron.
