Jason Periard’s ideas will help shape the future of school security in Knox County.
Periard, 49, is a former Marine Corps investigator and leader in managing security for Jewish organizations. Knox County Schools announced his hire earlier this month.
His first day is Aug. 1, which could be after the school board has approved a new bridge agreement with the Knoxville Police Department. The board faces pressure from some community members to review all of the district s security practices and agreements with local police departments but faces a time crunch with classes starting again in early August.
The district s relationship with law enforcement was scrutinized in 2019 and the communitywide conversation was re-ignited after a Knoxville police officer shot and killed a student inside a high school bathroom in April.
Keith, a former Marine, plays for tips as he struggles with temporary homelessness. Author: Shauni Lyles (Digital Content Producer) Published: 4:15 PM PDT June 3, 2021 Updated: 4:45 PM PDT June 3, 2021
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. His name is Keith Johnson and you may have seen him playing his trumpet on the streets in San Diego.
Keith, a former Marine, plays for tips as he struggles with temporary homelessness. News 8’s photojournalist, Erik Swanson, saw Keith playing his trumpet on the street and decided to stop and hear his story.
Keith said he enjoys seeing different faces as people drive by and thanks everyone who takes the time to stop and help him out.
“There’s a substantial likelihood he would not respect another important institution in our country, and that’s our courts,” he said.
Further, while no weapons were found in Dolan’s home when he was arrested last week, his neighbors told FBI agents they had seen guns in the house and had often seen Dolan carrying firearms.
A cursory search of his cell phone uncovered a photo of his wife holding an assault-style weapon, Dispoto said.
Dolan was among 16 people, all identified as Oath Keepers associates, who were indicted last week by a grand jury in Washington, D.C. Six others were from Florida.
