Abstract
Floods continue to be the most devastating natural disasters, whose frequency and intensity are increasing due to climate change. Extreme floods have posed significant risks to most parts of Kenya making it one of the most flood-prone country in the world. As such, disaster resilience projects are important to reduce the impacts of extreme flood events to vulnerable communities. The flood risk analysis approach aims to provide essential information for formulation of disaster prevention policies and decision-making processes for disaster risk reduction.

MoU between Forecasting and Warning Centre and BDRCS

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) of Bangladesh Water Development Board under the Ministry of Water Resources of the Government of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society at the Conference Room of Pani Bhaban. Feroz Salah Uddin, Secretary General of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society signed on behalf of the BDRCS and Nurul Amin, Chief Engineer of Hydrology Department signed on behalf of the BWDB in the presence of A K M Waheduddin Chowdhury, Director General, Bangladesh Water Development Board. Head of Delegation of IFRC, Country Representatives from America Cross, Technical Advisor of Climate Centre were present in the ceremony. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has provided emergency funds for Mongolia to protect the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of herders after the national weather agency forecast the country was facing one of its most extreme winters on record.
