The final beam at the Geisinger Medical Center Muncy healthplex is hoisted into place. Attached to the beam is a sign with signatures from local Geisinger and Highmark Health employees.
MUNCY TOWNSHIP The final beam for the new 120,000 square foot Geisinger Medical Center healthplex in Muncy Township is now in place.
Due to the placement of the beam during the COVID pandemic, Geisinger, Highmark and their construction crews held a private ceremony to celebrate the accomplishment.
The construction project still remains to be on schedule, according to Marc Stempka, Geisinger media relations specialist.
“We know this healthplex is going to create a new environment for our neighbors to get their health care in a much easier way,” Geisinger president and CEO Dr. Jaewon Ryu said in the press release.

2020 has certainly had its ups and downs from the pandemic lockdowns to the overwhelming presidential election. But that doesn’t stop our local health care workers, business owners, nurses, doctors and community members from having high hopes going into 2021.
“My biggest hopes would be that the world turns back into somewhat normal life … and that nurses, doctors and every frontline worker receive the recognition that they deserve,” Ciboney Krape, UPMC Muncy CNA, said.
“Our top two priorities for 2021 are first to help the region fight the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic while simultaneously meeting our communities’ critical non-COVID health needs. Our second priority begins as the pandemic fades and that is to help our communities recover physically, financially and emotionally,” Steve Johnson, president of UPMC in the Susquehanna region, said.
