The number of micro-containment zones in Puducherry has more than doubled in the span of a week, in proportion to the recent surge in new cases and the net increase in home isolation cases and the overall caseload.

After a sedate start, polling to elect the 15th Puducherry Legislative Assembly gathered pace over the course of the day in 30 constituencies across the Union Territory (UT) to finish at an overall voter participation rate of about 81.88% on Tuesday.
