The Table, a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that has served food for over 30 years five days a week for anyone who needs it, has been asked to vacate its premises at Napaâs First Presbyterian Church by the end of the month.
âThe Table is now homeless,â said Rhonda Simon, board member of The Table, in an interview. âTo us, thatâs the saddest way of putting it because weâve fed the homeless for so many years.â
Church officials say the two organizations had grown apart in recent years. The operation of The Table as an independent organization is simply no longer compatible with the operation and mission of our church, said Jim Jones, elder of the churchâs session â essentially a member of the governing board of the church â in recorded remarks to the congregation from July 25.
