A RECENT YouGov consumer omnibus survey conducted on behalf of owners of the Lake District Creamery at Aspatria, First Milk, has shown that three-quarters (76 percent) of consumers are concerned about climate change, with almost one-third (29 percent) taking environmental factors into account when choosing food. The survey, conducted in late March 2021, showed 76 percent of UK adults concerned about climate change in general; 29 percent of UK adults take the overall impact on the environment into consideration when buying food; 33 percent of UK adults think that farming and the production of dairy foods significantly contributes to climate change; 46 percent of UK adults think rearing of animals for meat consumption significantly contributes to climate change; 37 percent of UK adults think food waste significantly contributes to climate change.

Numerous dairy processors have announced milk price increases for the upcoming months.
UK dairy co-operative First Milk confirmed its milk price will increase by 0.5p per litre from 1 June 2021.
This means that its liquid standard litre will increase to 29.93ppl, including the member premium.
Robert Craig, director and vice chairman, said the increase had been possible as a result of improvements in market returns. As well as the benefits of our continued capital investment in driving efficiency and productivity at our processing sites,” he added.

Almost one-third of UK consumers now take environmental factors into account when choosing food, a new survey by First Milk says.
The dairy co-operative recently conducted a YouGov consumer survey which asked over 2,000 adults about food and climate change.
It shows that that three-quarters (76%) of consumers are concerned about climate change.

Over one quarter (29%) take the impact on the environment into consideration when buying food, while 33% think that farming and the production of dairy significantly contributes to climate change.
