This Inauguration Day will be unlike any other event of its kind, but the Bay Area still plans to honor the momentous occasion for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
The ceremony will be held at noon (9 a.m. PST) on Wednesday, Jan. 20, in Washington, D.C., without crowds for the sake of public health and safety. Biden will be sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts on the Capitol’s West Front, where he is expected to give his inaugural address and conduct a review of military troops. Instead of the traditional parade before throngs of spectators along Pennsylvania Avenue after the ceremony, there will be a much shorter route taken with representatives from every branch of the military acting as escorts.
