Local groups mobilising relief for SVG Rajiv Diptee THE Supermarket Association (SATT) has offered assistance to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) as people there evacuate in the wake of the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano. Its president Rajiv Diptee said SATT stands ready to assist with humanitarian efforts where supplies and food are concerned, as well as raising funds for immediate disaster relief efforts. “The great distress of this humanitarian crisis brought about the cataclysmic eruption of La Soufriere is terribly distressing to the Caricom community. “Through our machinery with other NGOs, discussions are already taking place with regard to the logistics of such efforts. We are prepared to continue to commit to our charter of humanitarian efforts as we continue to work together to bring relief.
