Assistance request from Government of SVG Article by April 10, 2021 Arising from the ongoing discussions between authorities in St Vincent and the Grenadines and Barbados, Barbadian businesses and individuals are being asked to contribute items to a list of urgently needed supplies for the people of that nation. Since yesterday, emergency agencies there have been grappling with the effects of La Soufriere volcano’s eruptions, which have so far resulted in the evacuation of thousands of householders from residence near the explosions and the disruption of the everyday lives of tens of thousands more across the country. The requested items are (H = high priority; M = medium priority; L = low priority):

This is part of the bank’s campaign around the region, through its charitable arm the FirstCaribbean International ComTrust Foundation, to support the purchase of vaccines in an effort to fight against the pandemic.

The St Kitts Nevis Observer   Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has divested itself of its Eastern Caribbean banking operations, having gotten clearance by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank to move ahead with the sale. The sale of those operations in Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines closed last Thursday. “This sale has RBC selling its Eastern Caribbean banking operations to a consortium of regional banks comprised of 1st National Bank of St. Lucia, Antigua Commercial Bank, Bank of Dominica, Bank of Montserrat, and The Bank of Nevis,” the RBC revealed in a statement last week.
