Article content On Monday, council will formally receive a report from the city’s acting integrity commissioner, George Valin, about allegations that Mayor Al McDonald and former Invest North Bay Development Corp. president George Burton used the influence of their offices in contravention of the city’s code of conduct. Valin cleared both individuals of those allegations, which centred around a request by Burton to North Bay council more than three years ago for $1 million in city funds, money that would ultimately be used to support a $1.2-million marketing campaign by local communications firm TWG Communications to attract investors, including immigrants, from the Greater Toronto Area.
