BENTON, La. A Bossier Parish teacher arrested on child-desertion charges involving her 3-year-old daughter should not face criminal charges, the district attorney concluded after reviewing the case, which has played out amid a contentious child-custody dispute.
Danielle Chandler, a teacher at Legacy Elementary, vehemently disputed the charges filed last November, saying her child was never left unsupervised and that she did not have a drinking problem. School system officials who investigated the case and reinstated Chandler days after her arrest called it a âdomestic situationâ involving Chandler and her ex-husband, who went to court seeking custody of the child in the wake of the arrest.
Life Sentence for Woman Who Killed Barksdale Airman
A woman who is now 20 gets a life sentence for the murder of Barksdale airman Joshua Kidd. Jareona Crosby was formally sentenced in Bossier District Court to life behind bars.
But Crosby could be free after serving just 25 years of that sentence because she was 17 years old when the crime happened.
Crosby pled guilty to second-degree murder in the September 2018 murder. Her accomplice, 17-year-old Alonzo Wilson were suspected of breaking into cars in the Greenacres Subdivision. Kidd was shot as he was chasing them after suspecting them of breaking into his vehicle.

A ruling Thursday in Bossier District Court means Robert Berry gets to keep his job as executive director of the Cypress Black Bayou Recreation and Water Conservation District while also serving as an appointed member of the board of directors.
But the court fight is not over. State Attorney General Jeff Landry, whose office filed suit against Berry, plans to appeal Thursdayâs ruling. The Cypress Black Bayou Board of Commissionerâs voted to employ one of their own members in a position that now pays a six-figure salary and offers other taxpayer-funded benefits. Robert Berry serves in this position while continuing to vote on board matters like his own salary,â press secretary Cory Dennis said in a statement to KTBS.
