Sadiq Khan will this morning formally sign in for a second term as Mayor of London on stage at the iconic Shakespeare’s Globe, as he announces plans for the biggest domestic tourism campaign the capital has ever seen to help London’s economy get back on its feet as COVID restrictions are eased. He will be joined at the Globe by award-winning British actor and director Adrian Lester.

The building where multimillionaire Richard Oland was murdered has been sold.
Liz Fulton, a local pub owner, bought 52 Canterbury Street in late April. It s trying to bring some more of that local back into the uptown industry, she said.
She purchased the three-storey 19th century commercial building in the heart of uptown Saint John for $535,000.
Fulton said she has been looking for a historical building in the area for some time now.
International Tourists can Revive UK Cities, Government Action Needed 30 April 2021
UKinbound and seven leading tourism bodies have written to the Prime Minister to highlight that the survival and recovery of over 200,000 city tourism and hospitality businesses they represent is dependent on international travellers returning to the 69 cities located across the UK.
The letter outlined that city restaurants, bars, hotels, shops, theatres, visitor attractions and inbound tour operators and intermediaries - who bring in over 50% (Source: VisitBritain) of all international visitors to the UK and arrange for them to visit cities across the country - will struggle to remain profitable and viable if international visitors do not return this year.
Footfall across all UK shopping destinations in week starting April 18 fell by 3.4% against previous week
All retail locations saw a slight decrease in footfall following the initial rush after curbs eased on April 12
High streets were the most robust location, with footfall dipping by just 0.8% against the previous week
Meanwhile, UK shopping centres saw footfall slide by 8.4% while retail parks saw a 3.5% decline last week
Consumer confidence in Britain saw its highest jump in at least a decade following post-lockdown roadmap
Deloitte s consumer tracker reported a record quarterly rise in confidence in first three months of the year
It was up six percentage points to -11% with every sub-measure up both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter
