THAILAND: Human Rights Watch today (May 27) called for Thai authorities to immediately and unconditionally drop insulting the monarchy and other politically motivated charges against children who peacefully express their opinions.

On Monday (May 24), the Central Juvenile and Family Court informed 17-year-old Thanakorn Phiraban that he has been indicted on lese majeste charges related to his speech at a pro-democracy rally on December 6, 2020, in Bangkok. Under Thailand’s article 112 of the Criminal Code, Thanakorn faces 3 to 15 years in prison if found guilty.

Prince Charles is set to cull the monarchy by axing several members after the Queen s death, it s been claimed.
It s thought the future king has been a long-time supporter of slimming down the ranks of the royal family, and now a friend of the family has said Prince Philip also supported the move.
