Ferris Brothers ,North Adams Barbers, Retire
The Berkshire Eaglereports Ron and Rob Ferris thought they might cut hair for the rest of their lives.
The brothers, third generation barbers, worked together for decades in the family business. In the 1970 s, Ronald, Robert and their older brother George took over the shop that their grandfather had started, and they remained a constant presence in North Adams, even as hairstyles evolved and the city changed.
Then the pandemic struck.
Business slowed to a trickle. George, their oldest brother, died in a car accident in the fall. And, just after Christmas, Ron, 78, and Rob, 66, both landed in the hospital with COVID-19.
Steve Silva, 29, was cutting hair last Friday at the Boston Barber Company on Beacon Hill, when he suddenly fell, with cutting scissors his hand, and stabbed himself so deeply that he could've died, according to CBS Boston.
It s all about building that community. Mr Bexon left his career in the retail industry four years ago to open Cutbacks by Bexon that was tucked away inside a trendy Maroochydore Coffee shop and had no signs. With limited advertising the successful shop relied on loyal clientele. Handsome Devils Barber co-owner Jack Graham and Cutbacks by Bexon owner Justin Bexon teamed up to open 43 Duporth Barber Collective in Maroochydore. Picture: Supplied. Mr Bexon said like Cutbacks by Bexon the new business aims to treat people like family. Everyone needs different things, some people need a shoulder to cry on, some people need a place to vent and a place to talk to someone, whereas some people need a place to sit and get away, he said.
