The Arvind Kejriwal-led government has announced
lockdown in Delhi for a full one week, from April 19 to 5 am on April 26.
COVID-19 cases in
Delhi have seen a rapid increase in the state. The state of Delhi clocked 25,462 new COVID-19 cases and 161 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The government had already imposed a weekend curfew from April 16 to April 18.
He made the announcement during a televised address in which he said the fourth wave of the pandemic in Delhi has brought healthcare services to the brink of collapse.

On Sunday, Delhi recorded the biggest jump in its daily Covid tally with 25,462 fresh cases and a positivity rate of nearly 30 per cent, which means almost every third sample being tested in the city is turning out positive. A day before, 24,375 Covid cases and 167 deaths were reported in the city.
