May 25, 2021 AFTER tricycle drivers in Mandaue City were allowed to board two passengers at a time, the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (Piston) Cebu says they have almost doubled their earnings.
On May 19, the Mandaue City Council passed the ordinance authored by Mandaue City Councilor Jimmy Lumapas, chairman of the committee on transportation, allowing tricycles to board at most two passengers provided that there will be plastic barriers between the driver and passengers.
The resolution of the city’s Local Franchising Board also states that the fare be decreased from P25 to P20 per passenger.
Piston Cebu chairman Greg Perez told SunStar Cebu that increasing the passenger capacity of the tricycle can help their members generate more income.

The Whanganui woman who had her electric tricycle stolen from her driveway is over the moon to have it back.
The trike was found on Thursday evening, around 24 hours after it was taken, and returned to owner Linda Keith on Friday.
There were multiple sightings of the bike around Whanganui city on Thursday, according to comments on social media.

Police identified the fatality as Jose Ronie Ruel Jr., 34, of Sitio Balogo, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City.
Police Lieutenant Ma. Liberty Indiape, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the victim sustained serious injuries on his head and body. He was brought to the Corazon Locsin Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), but he did not survive.

A specialised tricycle has been stolen from a Christchurch charity.
Canterbury Police are now asking for the public s help in finding the red Gomier 20-inch 6-speed tricycle so they can return it to its owner - described by police as a disabled gentleman .
The trike was stolen from the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust on Ilam Rd, Burnside, between December 17 and January 14.
