Subscriber only THE frontman of Ngukurr band Lonely Boys has been identified as the person who died in a pedestrian hit over the weekend. The man, who cannot be named for cultural reasons, is the second Lonely Boys band member to have died in a car related accident in the last few years. Skinnyfish Music released a statement advising of the lead singer s death.

A 36-year-old man has died after being hit by a 4WD on the Roper Highway near the NT s Mataranka township overnight.

The driver stopped to assist the man, taking him to a clinic in Matranka, but he was declared dead just after 8:00pm.
The 36-year-old pedestrian was struck by a 4WD vehicle travelling west on the highway.
The driver stopped to assist and conveyed the man, and a relative, to Mataranka Clinic where he was declared deceased at 8.10pm.
Local police have secured a crime scene on the Roper Highway. Detectives from Major Crash Investigation Unit travelled to the location this morning to inspect the seized vehicle, the crime scene and to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The driver returned a negative result for alcohol and has undergone a blood test for drugs. He continues to assist police with enquiries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner has issued a plea for motorists and pedestrians to take care on the roads.

One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening in North Lubbock.
The Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the crash that occurred at approximately 7 p.m. Dec. 9 in the 3900 block of North Idalou Road, according to a Lubbock police statement.
A Chevrolet Colorado, driven by 46-year-old Juan Enrique Orduna, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes along the 3900 block of North Idalou Road. A Chevrolet Silverado 2500, driven by 41-year-old Ernesto Perez Vega, was traveling eastbound in the eastbound lanes. The Colorado struck the Silverado head-on in the eastbound left lane.
