UPDATED: Fairfax County police identify man shot by officers in Falls Church

Police have identified a 61-year-old Falls Church area man accused of shooting a teenage boy in the face before being shot by officers on Thursday. Glenn Allen Myer was released from the hospital earlier today and was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, Fairfax County police said in a news release. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond. The incident began with a 911 call at 10:49 a.m. in the 2000 block of Peach Orchard Drive. A teenager told dispatchers he had been shot in the face by a man who lives in the apartment, police. The teenager sought shelter from the armed assailant in a bedroom and told the police dispatcher that the man was actively trying to break into the room.

The officer turned on his emergency lights to check on the driver. As the officer got back into his car, a suspected drunk driver rear-ended him, causing his cruiser to hit the car in front of him. The officer and the suspected drunk driver were treated for injuries that were not life threatening. The suspected drunk driver was arrested. Everyone wants to get home safely. If you’re considering celebrating the holidays with alcohol, please remember to arrange for a sober ride home. You just might save a life.
