Bishkek is modern and vibrant, and in the stunning rural areas itâs possible to stay with nomads living the traditional life. Itâs one of the most beautiful countries in the world, with delicious locally sourced food. Kyrgyz community-based tourism proved an affordable way to experience the life of horse-riding nomads living in yurts, and the money goes into the community itself.

A ceramic kitchen sink has been lugged to the top of the iconic Campsie Fells - in a bid to illustrate the gruelling distances families travel worldwide just to access water on a daily basis. The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) yesterday launched its appeal to highlight the plight of one in 10 people worldwide and to help extremely poor communities in Ethiopia - a country ravaged by climate change and severe water shortages. To show the lengths millions of people have to go to get to clean water, SCIAF Communications Officer Ian Dunn scaled the iconic Campsie Fells in a knackering ascent, carrying a heavy, ceramic sink.
