San Francisco Mayor London Breed will personally pay $22,792 in fines imposed by the city’s Ethics Commission for violating ethics standards while in office, according to various reports.
London Breed agreed to pay the fines imposed by the Ethics Commission, calling them “fair,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The commission said the fines were “significant,” as Breed had misused her mayoral title for her personal benefit.
The Ethics Commission fined Breed for several violations, including asking then-California Gov. Jerry Brown in October 2018 to release her brother Napoleon Brown from prison, where he was serving a 44-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter and armed robbery, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Breed and family members sent the letter to Brown in October 2018, asking for the release of her brother for crimes for which she said he had faced excessive punishment.

Jerry Brown to release her brother from prison and allowing Mohammed Nuru, the disgraced former head of Public Works, to pay for repairs to a car she owned.
I have worked in collaboration with the Ethics Commission to come to this proposed resolution. I believe it is fair, and I hope that it can be approved by the commissioners. While nothing stipulated here had any effect on my decision-making as Mayor, it is important that as Mayor that I lead by example and take responsibility for my actions, she said.
“I ve learned a lot over the last two years since the most recent of these events took place, and I ve learned from this process. During this pandemic, I ve also learned a lot about what it means to be Mayor of a city. I have always and will always put this City and its residents first. No one should be afraid of taking accountability when we make mistakes, she said.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) San Francisco Mayor London Breed on Monday agreed to pay nearly $23,000 in a fine to the city for a series of ethics violations while in office, including asking a former governor to release her brother from prison and allowing a former head of public works embroiled in a corruption scandal to pay her car repair bill.

SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco Mayor London Breed has agreed to pay more than $22,000 in fines for several ethics violations committed while in political office that raised questions about her personal and political relationships, officials said Tuesday.
Breed signed a stipulation with the city’s Ethics Commission agreeing to pay $22,792 for incidents including asking former California Gov. Jerry Brown to pardon her brother, accepting and not reporting donations for her float at the annual Pride parade, and allowing former Public Works director Mohammed Nuru to pay for her car repairs.
