India News: BENGALURU/NEW DELHI: A call from a Pakistani spy agency to an Army installation in eastern India has led to the unravelling of an illegal telephone ex.
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 9 (ANI): In a joint operation, officials of the Military Intelligence unit of Southern Command of the Army and Anti Terrorism Cell (ATC) of Bengaluru police on Wednesday arrested two men who ran an unauthorised telephone exchange and seized a large number of devices used for converting international calls (ISD) to local calls.

Two persons have been nabbed in Bengaluru for defrauding telecommunications department by using over 900 mobile SIM cards to convert international calls into local calls. They were apprehended as part of a joint operation conducted by Military Intelligence Southern Command and ATC officers in Bengaluru city.Â
In six locations in the Layout area, a Kerala-based person was accused of illegally creating a telephone exchange, placing several mobile SIM cards into electronic devices, converting foreign phone calls into local calls, defrauding the telecommunication network, and disrupting the country s security.

The Crime Branch conducted raids six locations in Bengaluru following intelligence inputs by Military Intelligence (MI) on illegal calls made to the Indian Army helpline numbers in West Bengal. The bust uncovered an illegal telephone network to route calls from operatives of terror outfits. The joint operation by the MI Southern Command and Bengaluru Police Crime Branch (ATC) led to the arrests of two suspects, 36-year-old Ibrahim Mullatti Bin Mohammed Kutty and 27-year-old Gowtham Bin Viswanathan.
Ibrahim hails from Mallapur in Kerala and Gautam is originally from Tamil Nadu s Tripur district, both operating from Bengaluru s BTM Layout area. According to the official statement, the accused used 30 electronic devices to install 32 SIM cards in six locations using more than 900 SIM cards to illegally convert ISD calls to local ones.
