Vitafoam appoints new director - Punch Newspapers

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 17 March 2021 The Board of Directors of Vitafoam Nigeria Plc has approved the appointment of Abdul Bello as independent non-executive director. According to a notice filed by the firm with the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Bello’s appointment is effective March 4. Bello would be succeeding Mohammed Alkali who retired from the position of independent non-executive director effective January 1. Bello retired from UAC of Nigeria in 2019 after 30 years in service during which he held various senior management positions such as group chief executive officer; group executive director/ chief financial officer; managing director, UPDC Plc; Managing Director, CAP Plc and Finance Director/ Company Secretary, CAP Plc.

Insurgency: NEDC reconstructs bridges, empowers 140 in Adamawa

NEDC Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali, said the reconstruction of the three bridges would be done in the awarded 80km Jabbi Lamba Belel Road contract with Federal Ministry of Works and Housing as a co-funder. He said the reconstruction of these bridges would restore important trade links between Borno and Adamawa States as well as with the Republic of Cameroun. He appealed to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to encourage and further support the youth of the state by allocating strategic business premises to them for the next two years to enable them commence their vocation seamlessly. Governor Fintiri said the intervention by the commission would build public trust in government.

NEDC commences repairs of bridges, infrastructures damaged by insurgents in North East

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has revealed that it has taken over the reconstruction of major bridges destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East. Mr Mohammed Alkali, the Managing Director of the commission, disclosed this during the inauguration of the commission’s infrastructure reconstruction and rehabilitation projects on Tuesday, March 2, in Yola. Alkali said that the 12 years of insurgency in the region had affected commerce, following the destruction of markets, roads, and bridges as well as public sector infrastructure. He said the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing had awarded numerous contracts for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads in the region.
