Fire has gutted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Igboeze South Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The fire incident which happened on Sunday evening razed a room in the office but was put out by fire service operatives.
In a series of tweets on its official handle on Monday evening, the electoral body shared photos of the fire incident.

“The store was completely burnt down before the Neighbourhood Watch and the Enugu State Fire Service responded and prevented the inferno from razing other parts of the building,” INEC explained.

The Enugu State Police Command on Saturday said it has arrested three criminal suspects for armed robbery and car snatching.
A statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, said the suspects, who were arrested with the collaboration of the Neighbourhood Watch Group in different parts of the state had confessed to the crimes.
Ndukwe said that two vehicles, three firearms, one live cartridge, two daggers, one mobile phone, and other incriminating items were recovered from the suspects.
He said, “On 17/05/2021, our operatives attached to Abakaliki Road Division, acting on intelligence, arrested in Ishielu L.G.A. of Ebonyi State, one Chidiebere Okoye aged 22 and Ede Ifeanyi aged 25, both of Onuasata, Enugu.
INEC headquarters in Enugu attacked, vehicles set ablaze

Barely 48 hours after an office of the Independent National Electoral Commission was razed in Udenu Local Government of Enugu State, the state headquarters of the commission on Sunday night also went up in flames with some official vehicles destroyed as well.
It was learnt that hoodlums numbering about seven in a Mini-Bus stormed the premises of the commission located near Enugu State Broadcasting Service at Independence Layout and set fire to six Hilux vehicles, five of which were completely burnt. The sixth was partially destroyed.
They reportedly tried to set buildings in the premises ablaze but were resisted by armed security operatives guarding the premises. Some furniture in one of the offices were said to have caught fire before firefighters arrived.
