Authorities take steps to cope with vehicle diversion from motorways

Fog has engulfed Punjab for the past several days, making driving difficult on the motorways as well as within Lahore, especially in the evening.
At least seven people were killed and 60 injured in traffic accidents caused by fog during the past few days. According to the Meteorological Department, the fog is likely to continue for about 10 more days.
Motorway police spokesman Syed Imran Shah told The Express Tribune that various portions of the motorways in Punjab are closed between 5pm and 9am depending on the situation of fog. The M2 motorway from Lahore to Islamabad, M3 from Lahore to Kot Abdul Hakim and M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Sham Kot are affected most frequently.
NAB has filed a reference with an accountability court against former divisional forest officer Musa Khan Baloch.
PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has filed a reference with an accountability court against former divisional forest officer Musa Khan Baloch, who is stated to be an associate of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, accusing him of accumulating illegal assets, embezzling official funds and making illegal appointments.
The reference filed with the court of judge Naveed Ahmad Khan is likely to be fixed for hearing in a next couple of days.
Besides prime suspect Musa Khan, the NAB has also charged three others, including an associate of Musa Khan, Mohammad Arsalan Aziz, and two foresters of the Dera Ismail Khan forest division, including Mohammad Farooq and Qaiser Abbas Baloch.

MANSEHRA: Deputy commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan has said the Saudi government will supply over Rs640 million worth of hi-tech surgical equipment and machines for the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, Mansehra, early next year saying the initiative will help improve healthcare in the district.
“Most of the health issues raised by you will be addressed after the supply of surgical equipment and hi-tech machines by Saudi Arabia for the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital,” Dr Qasim told an open kutcheri organised by the district administration at the hospital here on Thursday.
