On Wednesday night the Central Railway authorities brought this locomotive all the way to Thane where it has been installed at the parking lot outside the railway station. For all these days, it stood next to other locomotives, wagons, water pipeline and other things of heritage value. “The steam engine was loaded onto a trailer and then carried on road all the way till Thane. It arrived on the night of March 31,” said a Central Railway official.

While Shiv Sena leaders have threatened to shut shops owned by Kannada-speaking people on March 20 at Miraj, Sangli and other border towns and villages in Maharashtra, one leader, Shubham Shelake, urged cadres to thrash pro-Kannada activists sporting “red-yellow shawls” on the streets. Following a complaint from Pro-Kannada activists, an FIR has been filed against Shelake at Khadebazar police station. The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) has said it will do “everything” to protect the “sovereignty of the state”.

However, small, scattered late-night congregations were held across various mosques on Thursday night. The major congregations during the day (Friday) are expected at Dargah Hazratbal, Jenab Sahab Soura, Kalashpora, Jamia Masjid and other mosques and shrines across Kashmir valley. Earlier, the management of Dargah Hazratbal had decided not to hold any night congregational prayers there due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the same was conveyed to the District Administration Srinagar.
