A judge has cleared Wellington City Council’s handling of the $500 million Shelly Bay development. The High Court decision, released on Wednesday afternoon, means developer Ian Cassels has effectively fended off opposition from filmmaker Sir Peter Jackson, a local business group, and a group of councillors who were voted in with a majority against the development but who then voted for it. It is understood that the only hurdle now in the way is an ongoing occupation of the site by a group opposing the development.
