Carmel police release details, body cam video in officer-involved shooting

It happened Sunday, Jan. 31 just before 11:30 a.m. Police responded to a home near West Main Street and Meadow Lane for a person who was threatening suicide.
Police shared the audio of a 911 call that came from a neighbor who told the dispatcher he heard a gunshot in a neighborhood southwest of him. In another call, a dispatcher said a woman reported her husband left her a voicemail and she wanted police to do a welfare check. Later, police said she told them Scales called her and said he was putting bullets into his rifle.

CARMEL, Ind. Carmel police report a man has died after shots were fired on Main Street just west of Old Town Carmel late Sunday morning.
Police responded to a disturbance near Main Street and Meadow Lane, which is in a residential area between the Monon Trail and Guilford Avenue.
A Carmel police spokesman said a subject, who had threatened suicide, was firing shots from inside a house shortly before noon, prompting a large police response to try to secure the neighborhood.

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) A 29-year-old Indianapolis man died Monday morning after crashing head-on with another vehicle on State Road 37 in Fishers.
Officers with the Fishers Police Department responded shortly after 3:30 a.m. Monday to a crash involving a Dodge Charger and a Toyota Scion in the northbound lanes of State Road 37 just north of 135th Street.
They arrived to find a 29-year-old man trapped inside the Scion and suffering from critical injuries. The man, who police had not identified on Monday, was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.
The Fishers police crash team determined that the Scion was driving south in the northbound lanes of State Road 37 when it hit the Charger head on. The driver of the Charger, 33-year-old Takita Lockridge, of Noblesville, suffered injuries that did not appear life-threatening, Fishers police said.
