Meath County Council says its delivery of social housing will be down 20 percent this year due to the Covid-19 shutdown of construction. Housing proved a hot topic at yesterday s monthly meeting of the local authority with several councillors raising concerns about vulture funds and their impact on the Irish market. The latest figures show there are 376 new direct builds approved for construction in Co. Meath, with 189 units recently completed. The council also currently plans to deliver 420 houses through approved housing bodies between now and the beginning of 2023.

Outdoor dining allowed at all businesses in Co Meath this summer

LMFM By Marc O Driscoll Outdoor dining will be allowed at all commercial premises in Co. Meath this summer. Meath County Council says planning permission is not required for the vast majority of businesses to place street furniture outside their premises over the coming months.  However, a license must be granted by the local authority. The council has so far received 120 applications for such licenses, which it says are being processed as quickly as possible. All fees associated with the licensing process are to be waived for the remainder of the year. Financial supports are also available to help tourism and hospitality businesses to develop and increase their own outdoor seating capacity.
