JUCO World Series Returns to Grand Junction in 2021
This is the kind of great news we needed today, finding out that the JUCO World Series is planning to be back in Grand Junction in 2021. The details were released on the JUCO GJ website describing how hard it was to cancel the Junior College World Series last year, but they are very excited to have it return in 2021 to Suplizio Field in Grand Junction.
The tournament will be held from May 29th through June 6th but like most things, it will look a little different this year due to COVID-19 guidelines in place by the Mesa County Public Health Department. The will not be a tournament banquet or other community events involving teams including the youth clinic and Challenger game.
My wife and I volunteered at the Mesa County Covid Vaccination effort at the convention center and it was very well organized and staffed. The process was simple and took ~1/2 hour for those who got vaccinated. Sign up and get your shots when you are scheduled. Kudos to Mesa County health department!
Thank you to the staff and volunteers at Family West Hospital for their wonderful work and attitudes administering the COVID vaccine. You made the process so simple and easy, even for senior citizens. The kindness and respect you showed was greatly appreciated.
I m so frustrated trying to sign up for the Covid vaccine through the Public Health. I signed both my husband and myself for the vaccine since we are over 70. We were supposed to get a verification email. We did not receive the verification so I signed us up again. Still no verification. Have no idea if we are on the list or not. Trust me, they do not answer phones at the Department of Health.

I used to be a first adopter. I gradually became a last adopter. Electronics overload may be a senior malady. âConveniencesâ seem to complicate life.
Every time we drive our Subaru we see the clock is one hour later than standard time. I always feel late. It has been two months since time changed, but clock-setting is agonizing. The 400-page ownerâs manual is for three or four different clock versions. Which one do we have? Maybe the answer is hidden in that textbook-sized manual. We like the SUV (itâs really a station wagon, but SUV is cool, station wagon is not), but not the electronics.
Donations will go to blankets for elderly
AARP Colorado is hosting a Western Slope No-Contact Blanket Drive through Jan. 4 to provide new, unused blankets to local nursing home residents to help beat isolation and send some love during this difficult time, a news release said.
An online $10 contribution will provide a new lap blanket, âgift wrapped and delivered to the residents of local nursing facilities, who have suffered during this tough time, isolated from loved ones due to the pandemic and plagued by loneliness and depression,â the release said.
Blankets will be delivered to residents of The Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Fruita, and Eagle Ridge of Grand Valley, in Grand Junction.
