13 Films that Empaths & Sensitive People will Love.
Top Film Recommendations for Empaths and Sensitive People
Empaths are often overwhelmed by violent, fast-paced, or loud movies. Even the soundtrack can be too loud as well. Still, sensitive people love heartwarming movies, so I want to share with you a few movies that I love.
I am pleased to offer you my recommendations for empath-friendly films. By this I mean, films that are inspirational, sometimes magical, and filled with love of the earth and its creatures as well as friendships and all of humankind. These are not violent, loud, or action thrillers. Their pace is slower, richer, and leaves space for your imagination to roam to creative, beautiful places.
Screen time for younger kids can come with mixed emotions for parents. Smartphones, tablets, and televisions aren t always seen as the best thing when it comes to a child s brain development the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends kids ages 2 to 5 receive less than an hour of screen time per day, while those younger than 24 months see no screens at all (except for video chatting).
But as any parent in 2020 (and well into 2021) likely knows, screens can provide some temporary respite for cooped-up kids home from school and their caregivers. It would likely also come as no surprise that 7 out of 10 parents now report their kids spending as much as four hours on screens each day (up from three hours pre-pandemic), according to data from global data intelligence company Morning Consult.
If you are reading this column, you most likely remember âMister Rogers. â
And, like me, you may find it hard to believe that it was 53 years ago, February 19, 1968, to be precise, that Fred Rogers first invited us into his wonderful make-believe neighborhood. And it was February 27, 2003 that he died at age 74.
Born in Latrobe on March 20, 1928, the first day of spring that year, Mister Rogers was a genuinely kind and gentle soul who became a friend to tens of millions of children and their parents through the world of TV. (Fred, being a Pittsburgh-area native, the show debuted and was always produced at WQED, Americaâs first community-sponsored television station.)

“It’s like this though,” André Benjamin nervously shouted over the chorus of boos. “I’m tired of close-minded folks, you know what I’m saying?” As one half, with Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, of the Atlanta-based hip-hop duo OutKast, Benjamin had just won the 1995 Source Award for Best New Rap Group. The Madison Square Garden crowd, unwilling to budge from their bicoastal sensibilities to applaud this pair of defiantly Southern rappers, was not happy. “We got this demo tape but don’t nobody wanna hear it,” Benjamin continued.
