Wisconsin tallest residential tower groundbreaking Milwaukee

Updated: 5:18 PM CDT May 11, 2021 Crews ceremoniously began construction work Tuesday morning on what will become the tallest residential tower in Wisconsin.The Couture will be built at East Michigan Street and North Lincoln Memorial Drive in Milwaukee.The 44-story building will be home to 322 luxury apartments when completed, as well as retail space and a transit system connection. It s going to be a very dynamic building because it also has a transit hub, which includes a street car and the bus rapid transit line, developer Rick Barrett said.The project has been in the works for nearly a decade.Barrett bought the site four years ago, but setbacks and the pandemic slowed the process. Community health center gives vaccines in area that was COVID-19 hot zone

A neighborhood that found itself in the hot zone during a COVID-19 spike is administering more vaccines. Continuing Coverage: Coronavirus in WisconsinOn Milwaukee s south side Wednesday, the vaccine site at Sixteenth Street s Parkway Clinic was more active than usual. It s the first day the health center teamed up with Ascension Wisconsin to provide hundreds of more vaccines to eligible patients.The health center has the access to the vaccine, receiving doses directly from the federal government. We just needed the help with the hands to be able to take care of our patients, and so they brought in vaccinators, observers and to help prepare the vaccine, so we re working together on this, Sixteenth Street clinical manager Itza Vargas said.Ascension said it is providing 22 clinic positions five days a week for the next six weeks.Right now, the focus is vaccinating eligible Sixteenth Street patients.Many are from the 53204 ZIP code, which is now a priority area for Milwaukee County

Wauwatosa Secondary Students Return To In-Person Learning

On Feb. 19 the Wauwatosa School Board held a meeting to discuss returning Phase Into Learning students in grades 6-12 to five-day-per-week instruction on March 2 instead of the previously approved date of April 5. The Board approved this recommendation. Secondary students didn t have school on Monday. Subscribe On Feb. 2, Sen. Dale Kooyenga, (R-Brookfield) sent a letter encouraging the Wauwatosa School District to move students to entirely in-person learning. Kooyenga says he will advocate to direct state funding to schools that return to in-person learning.
