THE BUILDING BEHIND ME SAT VACANT FOR YEARS, AND MOST RECENTLY, IT WAS WHERE BALLOTS WERE COUNTED FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION. MILWAUKEE TOOL PRODUCTS ARE ALL OVER THE CITY IN STORES LIKE BLIFFERT LUMBER IN RIVERWEST. BUT THE COMPANY ITSELF HASN’T BEEN LOCATED IN MILWAUKEE SINCE ITS HEADQUARTERS MOVED TO BROOKFIELD IN 1965. NOW, A TENTATIVE DEAL BETWEEN THE RAPIDLY GROWING COMPANY AND THE CITY COULD CHANGE THAT. BEING DOWNTOWN IS AN ATTRACTION THAT SIMPLY JUST ISN’T THE SAM

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. - The Menomonee Falls Police Department is attempting to identify a suspect involved in a theft from the Planet Fitness locker room.
Police say the suspect used bolt cutters to remove a lock and steal a wallet from a locked locker. Stolen credit cards were used at Target in Menomonee Falls to purchase gift cards.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’09 tall, wearing a white baseball hat, black covid mask, light blue sweatshirt, khaki pants, and canvas shoes. He was observed getting into the passenger seat of a silver Mitsubishi 4 door with driver s side front-end damage.
The largest influx ever of jobs to downtown Milwaukee by a suburban firm is on track after the Common Council on Tuesday approved a $20 million city financing plan for Milwaukee Tool s new office.
The council voted 15-0 to help Brookfield-based Milwaukee Tool redevelop a five-story, 350,000-square-foot office building at 501 W. Michigan St.
The proposal by Mayor Tom Barrett s administration creates a tax incremental financing district for that building, which has been vacant since Assurant Health shut down in 2016.
Milwaukee Tool will receive $12.1 million in city funds in return for having at least 1,210 employees at the downtown office by the end of 2026, according to its development agreement with the city.

The Milwaukee Tool deal went from controversial to quiet in a week.
The Milwaukee Common Council unanimously approved a tax incremental financing package Tuesday morning that grants the company up to $20 million in exchange for bringing 2,000 jobs to the five-story office building at 501 W. Michigan St.
None of the 15 members spoke about the deal, a stark change from the nearly four-hour public hearing the project was subject to last week before the Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development Committee.
