Power Outages Not National - Energy Minister

  The Minister for Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has assured the nation that the current power outages in the country are not national in outlook but rather confined to specific areas where work needs to be done on the transmission systems. Dr Prempeh who is popularly known as ‘NAPO’, and who is also the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, gave this assurance at a press briefing held by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) in Accra to address the current power situation in the country. The situation, he indicated, was simply due to a technical difficulty with the transmission, and that there is absolutely no difficulty with power generation.

Power Outages For Construction Works Will Affect Only Accra And Winneba - GRIDCo

  The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) says only Accra and Winneba will experience power outages in the coming days following construction works at the main Pokuase sub station. This, according to the Director of System Operations of GRIDCo, Mr Mark Baah is to allow the company facilitate some key projects to ensure power supply reliability in the Greater Accra Region. There have been power outages in some parts of the country, which has led to people claiming Ghana has returned to “Dumsor” and thereby requiring a load shedding timetable. But Mr Baah assured that there is no nationwide “Dumsor” coming.

We Have No Power Generation Issues- Napo Assures

  The Minister for Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has assured the nation that there are no challenges whatsoever with power generation in the country. The Minister, who is popularly referred to as ‘NAPO’, and who is also the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, gave this assurance at a press briefing held by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) in Accra to address the current power situation in the country. The situation, he indicated, was simply due to a technical difficulty with the transmission. Dr Prempeh further clarified that none of the current challenges is due to the government owing any entity and that Ghana has put in place mechanisms where every generator, transmitter and distributor of electricity is paid something regularly. He also disclosed that government is also introducing a gas clearinghouse where funds will be made available to the suppliers of fuel for our generators.
