A Texas state representative was ravaged on social media Monday for fawning over the so-called sacrifice of Texas Democratic lawmakers who jetted out of the state on a chartered jet to block the state legislature from voting on two election reform bills. Just landed in Memphis on our way to DC, James Talarico, a 32-year-old member of the Texas state legislator wrote on Twitter. Thank y’all for your well wishes. We left behind our families, our livelihoods, & our beloved Texas. But our sacrifice is nothing compared to the sacrifices brave Americans have made throughout history to protect the sacred right to vote.

Texas Republicans were fuming as Democrats fled the state for Washington on Monday and some took to Twitter to share pictures showing Democrats on a private jet without masks and a D.C.-bound bus with a pack of Miller Lite.
“Smiling House Dems fly off to DC on a private jet with a case of Miller Lite, breaking House quorum, abandoning their constituents, while the Senate still works,” Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick tweeted with a picture of Democrats on a bus, a box of beer nestled in a seat. “It’s my hope that Senate Dems report tomorrow to do what they were elected to do. We will vote on #SB1.”

Armed with little more than a case of Miller Lite, Democrats in the Texas state House fled for Washington, D.C., on Monday in the hopes of blocking their Republican counterparts effort to enact new voting restrictions in the state.
The Texas Tribune, at least 51 of the 67 Democratic representatives ditched a special legislative session in Austin with 26 days left to go and hopped on two planes headed for the nation s capital. In doing so, they broke quorum, meaning there won t be enough members present to conduct business under House rules when the chamber reconvenes Tuesday. The party already did something similar this year when the voting legislation was previously up for a vote, though they didn t cross state in lines in that instance.
