The Health Services Sub-Committee says a 76 year old female is the third person to die from complications of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Committee says in a Press Release that the patient was admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital on January 31 with multiple pre-exiting conditions and died from multi-organ failure yesterday (February 3, 2021).
St. Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday confirmed eight new COVID-19 cases from samples collected between January 17th and February 2nd. All of the new cases were detected during contact tracing and testing of persons with flu symptoms.
Some facilities off limit
The Argyle Isolation Facility was used for administering patient care but is now a dedicated to isolation purposes only.

Members of the public have been reminded that visits to the Argyle Isolation Facility (AIF) and the area designated as the COVID Unit in the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) were strictly prohibited.
Speaking at a virtual press briefing Tuesday 26th January, Grace Walters, Hospital Administrator, reiterated the reminder and said in addition, the decision had been taken to discontinue the 11 O’clock visitation time at the MCMH, and restrict visits to one person per patient.

A 15-year-old, fourth form student of the Bishop College Kingstown died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), Tuesday 19th January, as a result of dengue fever according to health authorities.
According to a press release from the Chief Medical Officer, the 15-year- old asthmatic female was admitted to the MCMH in early January 2021 with acute dengue fever and a severe allergic drug reaction. After remaining stable initially, the teenager developed complications one week ago, deteriorated and died today,” the release dated Tuesday 18th said.
SVG records first two homicides for 2021 Social Share
This country has recorded its first two homicides for 2021 in separate incidents in less than a week.
On Wednesday January 20, Jason Martin, a 47- year-old mason of Belmont was chopped on his left foot during an altercation.
The chopping took place at about 5:30 pm and after being wounded Martin went to his home where he was later discovered unresponsive by his niece who met him in a pool of blood.
Officers from the Calliaqua Police Station were alerted and they rushed Martin to the Levi Latham Health Centre. He was later transferred to the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) where he succumbed to his injuries.
