Milford firefighters battle blaze at condo complex

MILFORD Crews are battling a fire reported at condo complex on the city’s east side Saturday afternoon.
Multiple fire units were called to the 300 block of Foxwood Lane shortly after 5:20 p.m., according to dispatch reports.
Arriving firefighters said they had been told everyone was out of the building, but reported they were checking unit by unit.
Firefighters reported a “heavy fire showing” with fire extending into the attic.

MILFORD Local restaurateurs are celebrating the city’s decision to extend all temporary outdoor dining area permits for another year.
The Milford Planning & Zoning Board unanimously approved the proposed change to the city’s zoning regulations that extended Gov. Ned Lamont’s outdoor dining executive order . All permits are now valid through March 31, 2022.
David Sulkis, city planner and executive secretary of the board, said the regulation anticipated Lamont’s order expiring later this month. The state legislature has since drafted an extension.
Milford bulk waste pickup to begin this month

MILFORD - The Spring 2021 Bulk Pickup Program is scheduled to begin on April 26 and end on May 17. The bulk waste pickup schedule will correspond to residents’ trash pickup day.
For those whose trash is picked up on Monday, bulk pickup will begin April 26. Tuesday trash pickup neighborhoods will have their bulk waste picked up beginning May 3. Bulk pickup begins May 10 for those with Thursday pickup and May 17 for those with Friday pickup.
The pickups will start at 7 a.m. and continue into the afternoon, accordig to Steve Johnson, assistant director of public works. Johnson also requested that residents don’t start placing their bulk amterial at the curb until the weekend of their scheduled pickup.
