MA strip club proposal moves forward after years of rejection, lawsuits

The Milford Daily News MENDON While a proposal to build a strip club on Rte. 16 was rejected 13 years ago, that decision appears to not be its last dance.   Sutton-based Showtime Entertainment LLC’s bid was turned down in 2008, but after reapplying two years later and suing the town to serve alcohol there  the project applicant is aiming to flip what was a no into a yes. Showtime Entertainment proposes to open a 4,806-square-foot adult entertainment club at 49 Milford St. (Rte. 16) with a capacity to serve 165 patrons, according to its proposal. It plans to serve alcohol along with food and to employ 24 people, said Thomas Lesser, the project’s attorney, during a Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on March 25 where the board unanimously approved the project s special permit.

Salisbury businesses react to Prime Minister s road map

Dave Hancock Responding to the latest lockdown announcement Dave Hancock, who runs Deacons, Caboose and Tinga in Salisbury, says the news is “positive”, but they are remaining cautious. He said: “It still all depends on what Rishi Sunak says in the budget next week. We still need long term support, and for the help we’ve been given so far to continue for at least another year. Most hospitality businesses will have stacks of debt to HMRC, suppliers, landlords, etc. The rates relief and support payments we’ve had up to this point for Tinga have been nowhere near enough to even cover rent, utility bills and national insurance payments, let alone enough to keep us going, so there has to be pressure on the government.”
