Japan has not revoked the visa status of two Myanmar diplomats in Tokyo who have been fired by the junta for opposing its Feb 1 coup and the subsequent violent crackdown on peaceful protesters, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi said. We do not perceive their actions as having been inappropriate, therefore their visa status has not been nullified, Motegi said at a press conference, when asked about the current resident status and how Japan plans to deal with the two following their dismissal by the Myanmar junta.

Some 100 Myanmar diplomats oppose junta, ordered to return home
Some 100 Myanmar diplomats supporting a civil disobedience movement in opposition to a Feb. 1 military coup have been ordered to return to the country by the junta, according to a leaked internal document.
But some of the diplomats did not follow the order and continue to stay in their countries of assignment, speaking out in their support for democracy forces in Myanmar against the junta. Myanmar residents in Japan stage an anti-coup rally in Tokyo s Ginza area on May 2, 2021, urging their host country to recognize the National Unity Government, an organization set up in opposition to the Feb. 1 military coup, as Myanmar s legitimate governing body.
